As Malaysia had identified in the 3rd Industrial Master Plan and stated in the 10th Malaysian Plan, tourism and hospitality will be an important enabler for Malaysia to position itself at the international level. Employment growth in the food and beverages (F&B) industry is significant and is currently in demand. The F&B industry, specifically the F&B Service Operation sector is growing rapidly in Malaysia and there is acute shortage of wel-trained personnel in this F&B sector.
F&B Service graduates work on a specified F&B operation activity by providing helpful, friendly and courteous services to its customers. They work in a safe and conducive environment either individually or in a team in performing tasks such as preparing the service area setup, arranging the table and chairs, replenishing the side stations, wiping and polishing cutlery and crockery. F&B services also include greeting, seating, taking order, serving and communicating with customers.
Certificate level graduates are sought after and usually end up holding jobs as F&B Service Staff in Hotels, Resorts, Convention Centres, Fine Dining Restaurants, Cafeteria, or even start up their own catering business.
